About Us

A Civic Non-profit organization - Public Charity. We give scholarships to graduating high school seniors. Maintain a museum and a memorial site on Mims Drive, McCormick SC. Dr. Mims started a lower school in McCormick and later he was the principle of Mims High School. When he was promoted to supervisor of personnel and instruct8ion, his son William J. Mims, Jr. took his place as a principle.

The Mims Foundation has several events and activities throughout the year to honor the men and women from McCormick County who have served and are presently serving in the Armed Forces of the United States. These events are to challenge our youth in JROTC programs and in regular school programs on the importance of Valor, Sacrifice, and Service when their country needs them to protect the freedoms which we enjoy as United States citizens.

The year 2020 has special significance since it is th3e 75th Anniversary of the end of World War II ( the war to end all wars).

There is a souvenir booklet being prepared where we will recognize McCormick County citizens who have served our country beginning with World War 1 and Beyond. Their names will be listed in the booklet. A special section of the booklet will recognize those who were killed in action.
